What's Tri-Coloring?

I feel hurr-durr asking this, and I dunno if it's the right place (it said art questions, so...), but...
Wtf what's tri-coloring? The only thing that comes to mind is coloring something... three different colors, but obviously that's not it judging by the tutorial that Integra posted.

It's something we need for the defult pose sets.
